James D2 Bound for SCSU
St. Andrew's School post-graduate guard and Kingswood-Oxford School alum Sean James made a verbal commitment to Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday night, where he will join his SAS teammate Evan Gutowski.
James and Gutowski were both recently profiled by the NERR-TV Unsigned Senior Virtual Showcase and are two of ten players who have since gone on to commit to D2 schools.
James is a highly skilled guard who overcame a hip injury to have a successful senior campaign at KO and began to make a bigger name for himself last summer as he debuted with NE6 in the Under Armour Association.
He followed that up with a very strong post-grad campaign at St. Andrew's where he averaged 14 points and 6 assists per game for a team that went to the NEPSAC Class AA semi-finals.
"Sean had an outstanding year at St. Andrew's," head coach Mike Hart said. "He brings a warrior leadership style and runs the team effectively. Sean even coached our middle school team to a 10-1 record and is an outstanding student."
At Southern Connecticut, he provides head coach Scott Burrell with a skilled guard, capable of playing on or off the ball, because of his decision-making and shooting ability.
