Jackson Headed to the Big 12
South Kent School & We R1 guard Elmarko Jackson announced his commitment to Kansas last night.
Jackson began his high school career at St. Augustine Prep in Richland, NJ. He had a solid sophomore season, averaging 12.4 points per game for a team that won 24 games and was undefeated in league play.
A decision was made after that season to transfer to Academy of the New Church in Bryn Athyn, PA. This came with reclassifying into 2023. Jackson was terrific this past season for the Lions, leading them to the Friends School League championship game while averaging 17.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. His standout play earned him FSL All-League First Team and PA All-State Non-PIAA First team honors.
The momentum Jackson created during the high school season carried right over into UA Next play with We R1. He proved to be the top guard on the circuit, averaging 14.9 points and 4 assists en route to helping his team make the semifinals in July.
Jackson also earned selections to the UA Future 60, UA Next Elite 24, and Curry Camp. He additionally rose 50 spots to number 18 in the updated 247Sports National Rankings released in August.
“Elmarko Jackson is an uber talented, super tough, and competitive point guard who is nowhere near his ceiling since he is relatively new to the game and position,” said South Kent head coach Raphael Chillious. "Elmarko has grown into a strong vocal leader since his arrival and is embracing the level of responsibility for what it means to be an elite prospect.”
Jackson becomes the first member of South Kent’s 2023 class who has finalized where they will be playing college basketball next year.
