Introducing Taurean Thompson

New England Recruiting Report | Monday, August 24th, 2015

One of the new players coming to the New England prep ranks this year is ESPN 100 power forward Taurean Thompson.

Thompson is a six-foot-nine big man who previously starred at St. Anthony's High School in New Jersey but will be finishing his high school career at Brewster Academy.

Thompson was one of the most promising underclassmen in the northeast a few years back until an injury cost him his sophomore season. He's made great strides since returning to the court little more than a year ago now and cracked the national top 100 this spring while standing out on the EYBL circuit with the New Jersey Playaz.

He appeared poised to continuing climbing the list until a rib injury cost him the summer, but has recently been fully cleared and so should be ready for fall workouts at Brewster where he is sure to draw a crowd.

Thompson recently visited Maryland and is also expected to travel to Xavier in September. He holds other offers from the likes of Rutgers, Seton Hall, Arizona State, Rhode Island, St. Joseph's and Temple according to verbal commits.

His game is based not just on his physical tools with his size and athleticism, but also on a solid skill set facing the basket as he is a consistent shooting threat on the perimeter and evolving mismatch problem.
