Introducing Simi Shittu
Over the course of the next few weeks the New England Recruiting Report will be profiling some of the most notable prospects set to arrive in the region this fall as part of the incoming prep school class.
Earlier this week NERR contributors Luc Smith and Zack Sandberg released their updated list of prep school commitments, which now includes over 200 names. Perhaps the most well known name on that list was that of Simi Shittu, a 6-foot-8 forward who currently ranks #11 in the ESPN 60 of 2018.
Shittu will be be transferring out of Montverde Academy in Florida, where he helped lead the team to the 2016 Dick's High School National Championship, and joining Vermont Academy for the coming year.
With still two years left in his high school career, Shittu already holds early scholarship offers from the likes of Texas, UConn, Marquette, Syracuse and Oklahoma among others and is sure to add numerous others in the not so distant future.
He's just one of several talented newcomers to join a Vermont Academy team that already returns a solid nucleus in Christian David, Marcus Santos Silva, Bailey Patella, Corey Romich and Kendrick Gray.
Originally from Burlington, Ontario in Canada, Shittu recently starred for the Canadian national team at the recent FIBA u17 World Championships held earlier this summer in Spain. Below are some of his highlights from that tournament.
