Introducing Myles Powell
The South Kent School will welcome one of the best shooters in the country to their line-up this year.
Myles Powell, who previously starred at Trenton Catholic High School in New Jersey, is as potent as it gets from behind the three-point line. His range is ridiculously deep and if he's able to set his feet it's as good as in. But Powell has become more than just a catch-and-shoot player. In fact, he's a total scorer now. He might use his jumper, or atleast the threat of it, to set up the rest of his game, but while he's not a naturally explosive athlete, he knows how to lean in off the dribble and use his strong body and low center of gravity to get near the rim, where he's an exceptional lay-up maker.
The six-foot-one guard is coming off a big summer. He began July at the Nike Peach Jam, where he helped lead the New Jersey Playaz to an EYBL championship in 2014. While he was primarily a supporting weapon to Isaiah Briscoe on that team, he took over as the focal point of this year's Playaz' squad and led the Peach Jam in three-pointers made while finishing in the top ten in scoring.
Next up was a trip to Chicago for the Nike Global Challenge where Powell was perhaps even better showing, leading the entire field in scoring, being named to the All-Tournament team and MVP of the USA East squad.
On the recruiting front Powell recently trimmed his list to just five schools - Pittsburgh, VCU, DePaul, Seton Hall and Connecticut.
