Hunt Headed to Harvard
2024 Milton Academy & Middlesex Magic shooting guard Austin Hunt announced an early commitment to Harvard on Friday night.
Hunt began his career at St. Mark’s in Southborough, MA. He was a part of the Varsity team during his freshman season.
After losing the majority of his sophomore season due to COVID-19, Hunt decided to move to Milton Academy. This came with a reclassification into 2024.
His first season with the Mustangs was a successful one. He was a starter on a team that earned a spot in the NEPSAC Class A Semifinals. Hunt’s play also helped him get ALL-NEPSAC Honorable Mention honors.
In AAU, he played up on Middlesex’s 17u Under Armour Association team. Hunt’s performances both with Middlesex and during the June Scholastic events earned him offers from schools such as Holy Cross, Brown, Siena, and Fordham.
“I am so excited for Austin and his family,” said Milton head coach Lamar Reddicks. “This is a perfect fit for so many reasons. I am excited that he will be local and I can continue to support him in person.”
“What I have noticed over the last three years coaching him has been an amazing desire to take his game to the next level and passion to win,” said Middlesex program director Michael Crotty. “Last year he was a key member of our highly successful UAA team and will be a leader on this year’s team.”
“Austin is the fourth Middlesex player to matriculate to Harvard in the past five years. I firmly believe his athleticism, skills, and toughness will give him an opportunity to make an immediate impact for Coach Amaker and the Crimson.”
Hunt becomes the first member of Milton’s 2024 class who has committed to play college basketball.
