Hotchkiss Forward Heading Ivy Year Early
When Patrick Steeves first arrived at the Hotchkiss School, he reclassified to the class of 2013 and quickly picked up scholarship offers from the likes of Xavier and Penn State.
The sharpshooting forward by way of Canada impressed with his size and a pure shooting stroke from the outside, but now, after just one season at Hotchkiss, Steeves will head to college a year earlier than planned as he has committed to Harvard in the class of 2012.
Steeves will be a 17-year old freshman when he enrolls next September in Cambridge. He will be the third Canadian native on Harvard’s team next season, joining Agunwa Okolie and rising junior Laurent Rivard.
“Coaches were showing interest and I thought I was ready,” Steeves told North Pole Hoops, “so we talked about 2012 and it turned out it was a better fit for them to have me come in next year.”
Steeves joins Okolie, Mike Hall, Siyani Chambers, and Evan Cummins in the Crimson’s 2012 recruiting class.
