Hoop Hall Classic Preview

The Spaulding Hoophall Classic returns to Springfield College this weekend for their annual event on Martin Luther King weekend.

The event will kick off at 3pm on Friday afternoon as the Sabis girls face their counterparts from Commerce.  The action will be non-stop until Monday evening when the final game tips off with Holyoke battling South Hadley.

Along the way local fans will be treated to a total of 23 great high school basketball games, three girls & twenty boys, including not just some of the top teams from western Massachusetts and New England, but in fact the entire country.

A small sample of the top players in action include: top ranked senior nationally Jared Sullinger from Northland High School in Ohio; top ranked junior nationally Michael Gilchrist from St. Patrick’s High School in New Jersey; second ranked junior and son of Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, Austin Rivers from Winter Park High School in Florida; third ranked senior Tristan Thompson from Findlay College Prep in Nevada; sixth ranked senior Kyrie Irving from St. Patrick’s High School in New Jersey; seventh ranked senior Tobias Harris from Half Hollows Hills West in New York; and eighth ranked senior Reggie Bullock from Kinston High School in North Carolina.

Eighteen of the twenty boys games, as well as the Spalding Skills Challenge, will be aired on television as ESPN will be airing Saturday’s Columbus/Oak Hill game, ESPNU four games on Monday; Comcast SportsNet two games early Sunday afternoon, and Pack Network TV 13 other games throughout the course of the weekend.

The New England Recruiting Report will be on hand, both to provide color commentary for all of the games televised by the Pack Network as well as to recap all of the action.
