HooopRootz Beast of the East - Preview

The third week of Zero Gravity’s #PathToTheBelt kicks off this weekend on the South Shore, with the Hooprootz Beast of the East showcase coming to MPlex, Kingston, University Sports Complex, UMass Boston, and Rockland High School. The event looks to be the most loaded field yet in the ZG fall tour, with New England’s top programs set to meet up in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.

Boston Bobcats-Perry look to take away a title in their second consecutive week after winning the Varsity National division at last weekend’s Fall Brawl. They’ll have a tough road back to the finals again this week though, grouped with a loaded South Shore Wolfpack-Coyle team in the American Gold division.

Expressions Elite will be running for vengeance this weekend coming off a pair of championship game appearances last week in the ninth and tenth grade divisions, especially after strong play from several different players at last week’s Fall Brawl.

Expressions-Worrell tenth grade group will face some brutally tough competition in the American Silver division, grouped up with usual power such as New England Playaz, Middlesex Magic, All for One, and Boston Bobcats-Sheehan. Meanwhile Expressions’ Elite tenth grade squad will be featured in the American Gold division alongside some potentially tough teams in South Shore Wolfpack, Boston Bobcats-Alves, and Middletown’s Finest.

The ninth grade field may potentially be the deepest field at the entire event, but look for an emergence from a deep and talented New England Playaz team, an Expressions Elite group who very nearly came away with the ninth grade title at last week’s ZG Fall Brawl, and a Central Mass Swarm-Byrnes squad who has played New England’s best teams closely all fall long.

Follow along with NERR, Hooprootz, and Zero Gravity all weekend long for updates and analysis of one of New England’s most highly anticipated fall events. Full schedules, brackets, and team rankings can be found at ZeroGravityBasketball.com.
