Hazelton Camp - Junior Elite Recap

As in years past, the Scott Hazelton Basketball Camp proved to be a great place to see some of the top up and coming talent in New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts and it wasn't just the older players who stood out as a number of youngsters caught our eye as well:

WADE GOP 5’8 MANCHESTER, NH - The flashy 13 year old 8th grader is a pure point guard with great ball handling skills.  He has the ability to make others around him better as he always makes the right decision with the ball.

DREW BELCHER 6’3 READING, MA - The toughest/hardest worker on the court all day long, has the ability to get the basket against bigger defenders and rebounds a lot bigger than 6’3.  He has great hands and he has a lot of growing left in his frame.  Drew will be a freshman at Reading Memorial High School.

WESLEY CUEVAS 5’7 LAWRENCE, MA - The fastest player in the gym caused havoc on the defensive end all day long.  He can cover anyone the full length of the floor.  Has great handle and finishes well around the basket.  Wesley will attend Central Catholic High School.

WENYEN GABRIEL 6’2 MANCHESTER, NH - Very long and athletic wing player that can shoot the 3 ball very well.  His ability to handle the ball on the wing at his size/age is incredible.  He will grow to 6’10 or better as he is only 13 years old.  Wenyen will only be an 8th grader this fall.

ROBERTO SPEING 6’2 LAWRENCE, MA - This young man plays very hard and battled all day with Belcher during stations and games.  He has a quick move to the basket and he is lefty.  He has a lot of bounce and is above the rim on both ends of the floor.  Roberto will attend Lawrence High School.

KABONGO NGARAKULONDI 6’1 MANCHESTER, NH - With a name like this you have to be a player.  He has the physical tools of a 17 year old, but he is only 13.  He uses his strength well and defends the post and perimeter well.  This young man will only get better with time.  He is extremely athletic.  Kabongo will be an 8th grader in Manchester NH.

MIKE ATTAH 5’10 HAVERHILL, MA - Another athlete that defends and runs the floor well, is very sneaky with his shooting ability, and gets every loose ball in the gym.  Attah drives everyone he covers crazy as he is relentless and hates to lose.  Mike will attend Haverhill High School this fall.

ZACK BURT 6’1 LYNNFIELD, MA - Zack is a player that everyone wants on their team as he does all the little things that makes a coach happy.  He defends, dives for loose balls and rebounds like he is 6’10.  He has great jumping ability and will only get better in coach Sean Connolly’s system at St. Johns Prep in Danvers Ma.

MAX BUTTERBRODT 6’4 N. ANDOVER, MA - Max is great low post presence.  He has great hands and moves on the block.  He finishes well and rebound’s the ball above the rim. He keeps the ball up for quick outlets.  He will be a freshman at St. Johns Prep in Danvers.

ANDREW LECHNER 6’2 HAMPSTEAD, NH - This young man can play the game.  He has good handle and shoots the ball well.  He also showed some great court awareness as he made very good passes all day long.

MATT JAMISON 5’10 HAVERHILL, MA - Matt can shoot the long ball.  He was on fire in the afternoon session and really finds a way to get open.  He shoots well off the dribble as well, which makes him tough to defend.  Matt gives Haverhill two freshman that can flat out play.

BEN JUDSON 6’1 PLAISTOW, NH - This young man has a big upside as he can shoot it and get to the basket.  He will only be an 8th grader and will be a name to remember in the future.  He loves the game and works hard to be the best he can be everyday.
