Harvard Adds Big Man

Laurent Rivard wasn’t the only key recruit to commit to Harvard this week as head coach Tommy Amaker and his staff also landed highly sought after big man Ugo Okam.

Okam is a seven-foot center from Nigeria who plays with Montverde Academy (Florida) during the high school season and Each One Teach One (Team STAT) on the AAU circuit.

The big man reportedly selected Harvard over Pennsylvania in the end but also claimed offers from Vanderbilt and Loyola Marymount.

While Okam is still raw and a bit of a project, he has an undeniable upside with a combination of size and athleticism that can rarely be duplicated in the Ivy League.

Okam is the third player to commit to the Crimson this year joining Rivard and his NMH teammate Matt Brown.
