Hagopian Makes Pick

Watertown High School (MA) guard Mike Hagopian has committed to Suffolk University where he will play for head coach Adam Nelson.

Hagopian averaged over 17 points per game this season while connecting on 41 three-pointers, helping to propel Watertown back to the state tournament in the process.

A longtime member of the Mass Elite AAU program, Hagopian was a steady contributor for last year's seventeen-and-under team and also turned in a solid performance at the Hoop Mountain All Academic Camp in July.

"Mike has all the tools necessary to make an impact at the college level," Mass Elite head coach and program director Eric Polli said.  "He is a tremendous shooter, both from the mid-range and outside the three point line, but he's more than just a catch and shoot guy. He can also score off the dribble."

The latest in a long line of players to go from Steve Harrington's Watertown program to play at the collegiate level, Hagopian is a combo-guard who had played predominantly off the ball for most of his career but moved over to the point for his senior season following the graduation of Cesar Fulcar, who enjoyed a solid freshmen season at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

"Mike learned from the best," Polli said in regards to Harrington. "It will be a seamless adjustment to the college level and he should have an immediate impact."
