Gabas Makes Pick

Holderness senior forward Gabas Maldunas made a verbal commitment to Dartmouth last week after receiving his likely letter.

Maldunas is a six-foot-eight forward with a rapidly developing inside-out game.  The Lithuanian native arrived at Holderness for his junior year where he made an immediate impact on the NEPSAC.  Nevertheless, it wasn’t until last spring when Maldunas really began to make a name for himself as he debuted on the grassroots circuit with Expressions Elite.

Maldunas was even better this summer as he shined at both Hoop Mountain’s Super Week II and the New England Elite 75 Showcase before finishing the month with his Expressions squad.  By the time July had come to a close, he had accumulated a steady dose of division I recruitment.

It has been more of the same to start his senior season as Maldunas has put up big numbers in helping Holderness get off to a 9-5 start in the newly created Class AA of the NEPSAC.

A bit of a throwback in the post because of his great hands and feet, Maldunas knows how to score with his back to the basket but has also shown an evolving skill set facing the basket from the perimeter where he is able to pull opposing big men away from the basket and create mismatch problems with his mobility and ball skills.

Maldunas joins Northfield Mount Hermon’s John Golden as the second New England prep product to commit to Paul Cormier in his first season back at the helm of the Dartmouth program.
