French Sets Visits

New England Recruiting Report | Wednesday, August 17th, 2016

One of the top prospects in New England's rising senior class, Hasahn French, has scheduled three of his five allowed official visits per NCAA rule.

The Commonwealth Academy and PSA Cardinals power forward is coming off a breakout summer where he pulled in numerous scholarship offers before trimming his list to 13 earlier this summer - Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Marquette, Minnesota, Providence, Saint Louis, Seton Hall, St. John's, Temple, UMass, UNLV, USC and VCU.

He took unofficial visits to the two local New England campuses - Providence and UMass - earlier this month and has now scheduled official visits Marquette on September 9th - 11th, Minnesota on September 23rd - 25th and Saint Louis on September 30th - October 1st.

French was an instrumental part of the PSA Cardinals' success during the EYBL season and their ultimate run to the Peach Jam finals.

Perhaps what was so impressive, and ultimately what attracted such a wide range of colleges, was his versatility and unselfishness. When the entire line-up was active, he was content to be the blue-collar guy who did all the dirty work, but in May when guys like Mo Bamba missed substantial time, he proved he could step up and be a threat to score 20 points on any given night.

That willingness to play a role and sacrifice individual stats and accolades in support of a greater goal (winning), is something rare in young players today and a big part of what caused French's recruitment to spike the way that it did.
