First Look: Tremont Waters
Tremont Waters - In putting the pen to the paper, any word in the Webster Dictionary is fair game; however, when it comes to the word "phenom," I always seem to back down like a chump when considering its' usage. But with this young floor general Tremont Waters, I feel very comfortable using the "phenom" noun. Rolling with the New England Playaz 16s, the 7th grader Waters ran the show all weekend long in eye-brow raising fashion, putting up double-digit points in each game we saw and going for a cold 20 in a big Playaz quarterfinal come-from-behind victory over the Westchester Hawks....In terms of his game, here's the 411; first of all, whether he commits a bad turnover or sticks an NBA trey off the bounce in the defender's grill, the kid's demeanor never changes. His confidence and feel for the game are off the charts, his handle tight and ambidextrous, his shooting-stroke smooth and lethal, and his change of direction dance steps in the open floor are a sight to behold. It's going to be interesting the next few weekends as Waters gets the chance to run the show in front of D1 coaches. Stay tuned folks...
