Fazio Will Step Right in at Emmanuel

Andover senior guard D.J. Fazio embodies everything you would expect from a coach’s son.

He is a selfless point guard with a high basketball I.Q. and absolutely tough as nails.  The team’s success weighs far more important than any individual accolades, which is why he always seems to be the hardest working player on the floor.

Fazio recently completed a tremendous career playing for his father, Dave Fazio, at Andover High School.  A three year letter winner, Fazio has helped lead his team to the state tournament in all three of his varsity seasons.

Fazio has been the team’s starting point guard for the last two years and this year sacrificed much of individual offense for the team’s success, averaging 8.5 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals per game while consistently defending the opposition’s best perimeter scorer on a nightly basis.

An MVC All-Star in his senior season, Fazio led Andover to a 16-7 record and a spot in the regional quarterfinals of the state tournament.

Next year, Fazio will be taking his talents and tenacity to Emmanuel College where he projects able to step right in and contest for a starting job from day one of his freshman season.

The commitment couldn’t come at a better time for Emmanuel as the Saints suffered a  4-21 season this past year, going 3-15 in the GNAC.

But Fazio is just the type of player to help turn that around as his individual skills will give Emmanuel an immediate infusion of talent, and more importantly, his work-ethic and unselfishness will help to make all of those around him that much better.
