Espinal-Guzman Makes the Call

Rhode Island Elite and Woodstock Academy senior forward Raymond Espinal-Guzman announced his commitment to Sacred Heart on Monday night.

A three-year member of the RI Elite program, Espinal-Guzman spent the past two seasons at Marianapolis Prep prior to transferring into Woodstock for his senior year.

Sacred Heart became the first division I school to offer the 6-foot-8 forward shortly after the Be Seen Tour visited the Rhode Island Elite practice.

Guzman is an emerging and versatile forward who undoubtedly would have earned additional D1 offers had we had a typical grassroots season. Regardless, he has improved at a steady rate and has the ability to score the ball in versatile ways.

"Sacred Heart is getting an amazing young man and extremely hard worker in Raymond," RI Elite director Nick Light said. "Coach Latina is one of the best developers in the country, so with Raymond's work ethic I feel they will will be a perfect fit for each other. Everyone at RI Elite is very excited for Raymond's future with the Pioneers."

Woodstock head coach Jacque Rivera echoed a similar sentiment about Espinal-Guzman's upside.

"Raymond will be a guy we look back on and say 'wow, the development that Coach Latina and his staff does with their guys is remarkable.' Just look at the history, Quincy [McKnight], Cane [Broome], and E.J. Anosike," Rivera told NERR. "Raymond has a ton of room to grow and he will! We have full confidence he will be an all-conference kind of guy."
