Elite 75 College Showcase Recap pt. 8
Following the Elite 75 at Clark, we will be taking a look at each of the showcase teams and highlighting what they do well. Here's a look at one of the squads.
Sean O'Leary (Franklin HS, MA) gets to the bucket to get the looks he wants around the rim. Uses his body to shield off defenders and keep them on his back on drives. Relentless finisher through contact and a capable shooter from three.
Ryan Higgins (Catholic Memorial, MA) is a marksman from downtown. Gets into his shot with efficiency, sets his feet, gets the ball off quick. Speedy guard that gets downhill with power on drives to the basket. Good rebounder at his size and holds down his assignment on defense.
Peter Gellene (Bridgton, ME) is a speedy lead guard that can command an offense. Has innate passing vision to find teammates for good shot opportunities. A threat to pull up at any time as he can shoot from all over the court. Attacks the basket and doesn’t shy away from contact.
Luke Soden (Bedford, NH) is a known scorer that can take over a game with his ability to knock down shots. Capable shooter off the catch, standstill, or off the dribble. Bag of dribble and hesitation moves with the ball to get to his spots or drive to the rim. Energetic player that can jump start runs.
Will Yakoobian (Belmont Hill, MA) is a strong, high motor wing with a tremendous feel for the game. Lethal shooter from deep, thriving as a catch and shoot threat. Locks in on his guy on defense forcing tough shots and turnovers. Makes the right decisions as a playmaker to keep the offense firing.
Will Davis (Bridgton, ME) is a towering stretch big that can score it inside and out. Has a bunch of moves to get around defenders in the post and convert through contact. Stretches the floor as a threat off the pick and pop often knocking down standstill treys. Versatile defender that can switch onto smaller players. Has good passing vision to find open teammates in the post.
Hansy Jacques (Franklin HS, MA) is a taller guard that makes a big impact on the game due to his length. He is an acrobatic finisher around the basket who can finish at the rim with either hand. Does not shy away from contesting defenders throwing contact his way. Operates well as the lead guard with a tight handle and passing chops.
Eddie McCoy (Mansfield HS, MA) is a typical late blooming McCoy, like his father (Siena) and brother (Delaware) before him. Consistent, fluid form as a shooter that can knock down shots over contesting defenders. Crowds passing lanes with his active hands to force turnovers and pick up steals. Magnet to the ball crashing the boards for rebounds. Has a body type and bloodlines that show he could be a completely different player a year from now.
Joey Hart (Governor’s, MA) A big name in the area since he was younger, his game was often based on his power and size, but at the elite 75 he was able to showcase a much improved perimeter oriented game. He can score it from all 3 levels and guard 2-5. Headed into the class of 2025 next year, he is a name that scholarship coaches should begin to monitor.
Zach Romich (Groton Dunstable, MA) is another typical late bloomer with great bloodlines, all 5 of his older siblings have played college basketball, and after a late growth spurt he now stands at 6’ 3” with a chance to add a couple of inches. Great mover without the ball and spaces the floor. Knocked down over 75 threes last high school season and could be one of the areas more improved players come winter time.
