Hunter moved to Connecticut from Nebraska prior to his senior season after his father, Kenya Hunter, joined the staff of first year UConn head coach Dan Hurley as an assistant coach.
Hunter arrived without a division I offer and was relatively under the radar for the first-half of the season until a breakout performance at the Spalding HoopHall Classic where he dropped 35 points in a win over Archbishop Wood from Pennsylvania.
That was the beginning of a rapid ascension that saw him pick-up offers in the Patriot League, CAA, and MAAC while even garnering some interest from Big East and Atlantic 10 schools.
Hunter went on to help East Catholic capture the CIAC state championship, his second in a row after winning one in Nebraska as a junior, and earn a variety of post-season accolades including New Haven Register Player of the Year after averaging 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists per game.
Below are some of his season highlights.
