Dr. Scott Brooks joins The Upside Podcast
Dr. Scott Brooks is the latest guest on the Upside Podcast and the first in a series of discussion that will strive to increase the conversation and awareness surrounding racial injustice in this country.
Dr. Brooks is the Director of Research at the Global Sports Institute at Arizona State. He is also a senior fellow at the Wharton Sports Business Initiative and the Yale Urban Ethnography Project. He authored the book “Black Men Can’t Shoot” in 2009 and has consulted the NFL and MLB while being cited by the likes of the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, and SLAM Magazine.
The discussion ranges from power structure and race, to misconceptions about phrases like systemic and institutionalized racism, to the historical facts behind those phrases, to how race can and does impact the world of sport and basketball in various ways.
