Donovan Dominates July

The July evaluation period has officially come and gone and there might not be a prospect in the country who helped themselves more than Brewster Academy guard Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell began the month with a standout performance at the Breeok Breakout Classic, earning offers from the likes of Louisville and Indiana among others.

It turned out that was only just the tip of the iceberg as his play continued to reach new levels throughout the month.  He played to rave reviews to open the UAA Finals with The City and sustained that level of play during the final week of the month, leading his squad to the final four at the Fab 48 in Las Vegas.

Smart hasn’t just been putting up numbers and earning new scholarship offers, he’s also been playing the point guard position and drawing comparisons to former Oklahoma State lead guard Marcus Smart, another power guard who converted to the point just prior to his arrival in college.

Now, Mitchell is beginning to trim his list and set to announce his final schools before the weekend according to SNY’s Adam Zagoria.

What we know for sure is that Villanova will be getting the first unofficial visit post live period as they are set to host the Brewster guard next Monday, August 4th.  Mitchell will then take his first official visit to Louisville later in the week on Thursday and Friday.

He is also expected to take a visit to Indiana before returning to Wolfeboro for his senior season.

Mitchell has been on Providence’s campus several times in the last year and also visited Boston College unofficially prior to the beginning of the evaluation period.  He has also taken an unofficial visit to Florida State, which is also squarely in the mix for his services.
