Matt Donahue 2017

Northfield Mount Hermon School and Middlesex Magic senior Matt Donahue has ended his recruitment and plans to attend Quinnipiac University and join the basketball team as a recruited walk-on.

Donahue was widely recruited by both division III and division II schools in recent months, and even visited Philadelphia University this fall, but nonetheless opted to pursue his dream at the division I level.

"Matt is an unbelievable shooter, an incredible competitor and understands the challenge that is ahead of him," NMH head coach John Carroll said. "He believes he's a division I player, we believe he's a division I player and he sees an opportunity to prove he can help Quinnipiac from behind the three-point line."

The fit is also a good one academically as Quinnipiac possesses a uniquely specialized business communications program which Donahue plans to pursue.

Donahue's commitment will bring him back to his home state of Connecticut, where he previously starred at Stonington High School, scoring over 1,000 points in three seasons before joining NMH last year as a repeat junior.

On the AAU circuit, Donahue has been a longtime member of the Middlesex Magic and helped them win a series of championships last season including the Northeast Hoops Festival, Super 16 Showcase and Hall of Fame National Invitational.
