Putnam Science Academy guard Hamidou Diallo is one of twelve players currently with USA Basketball's 18-and-under team in Chile competing in the FIBA America's Championship.

The trials began in June at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs where an initial group of 26 players was cut to 18. Those 18 headed to Houston last week for training camp where the roster was trimmed to the final 12 which departed for Chile.

Preliminary action got underway on Tuesday of this week with the United States team squaring off against Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and Chile in consecutive days prior to the semifinals which are on tap for later today.

The gold medal game will be played tomorrow at 8:15pm EDT.

Diallo is joined on the roster by other high school prospects including Mo Bamba, Matt Coleman, Quade Green, Michael Porter Jr., M.J. Walker, P.J. Washington and Trae Young. College freshmen on the roster include Markelle Fultz, Jarrett Allen, James Banks and Kevin Huerter.

Texas head coach Shaka Smart is the team's head coach while UConn head coach Kevin Ollie and Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon are the assistant coaches.
