Dawson Staying Local
Brooks School senior guard Jayde Dawson made a verbal commitment to UMass Lowell this weekend, and is now expected to sign his National Letter of Intent during the upcoming spring signing period.
Dawson ran with the Albany City Rocks on the EYBL and AAU circuits last spring and summer and made a brief verbal commitment to Cornell this fall.
He had a big senior season at the Brooks School, leading the team to an 18-5 record and being named Co-Player of the Year in Class B of the NEPSAC.
UMass Lowell has historically been one of the top programs in the Northeast 10 Conference, but will be making the move to the Division I level and the American East Conference beginning next season.
Dawson provides head coach Greg Herenda with an athletic and versatile guard, capable of playing both backcourt positions, defending the ball at a high level, and creating his own offense.
He is the third player to commit to UMass Lowell in the class of 2013 joining the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Massachusetts, Tyler Gibson, and Jack Sullivan, a six-foot guard from Albertus Magnus High School in New York.
