Connecticut 2014 Rankings Announced

After a busy weekend of basketball in the region, we're ready to pick back up with our updated rankings in the class of 2014.  

Up next is the state of Connecticut, who appears to have the deepest junior class in all of New England, making the battle for the top ten spots especially competitive.   

Fairfield Prep center Paschal Chukwu sits in the top spot.  While the seven-footer isn’t putting up totally dominant offensive numbers yet on the high school level, there is still little doubt as to his tools, talent, and long term potential.  

Salisbury forward Samuel Dingba checks in at the second spot.  Dingba was widely recruited by various mid-major programs this fall as a member of the class of 2013, but ultimately made the move to reclassify and stay an extra year for the sake of his academic development.  

South Kent swingman Zach Brown is another player still working to turn his undeniable potential into steady production.  He’s been learning on the fly this season, competing in the nation’s premier prep school league, and should be a guy who makes more of a name for himself as the year goes on.  

It gets real close after that as the list could play out in any number of ways.  Hotchkiss guard Makai Mason can fly under the radar because he didn’t play on last summer’s AAU circuit, but is a prospect to be reckoned with.  He checks in at the fourth spot.  

A pair of high scoring guards from the CCC are next in Windsor’s Jared Wilson-Frame and East Hartford’s Kahari Beaufort.  These two are similar in a variety of ways in that they’re both volume shot-makers with smooth dribble drives games and among the most dangerous scorers in the CIAC.  

We’re back to South Kent for the seventh spot in Dusan Perovic, a solid international forward who has made a consistent inside-out impact since arriving this season.  

East Hartford native and St. Thomas More guard Cane Broome is up next at number eight after showing well in his first few months on the prep circuit.  St. Joseph’s guard Quincey McKnight is next at nine, adding to what is a particularly strong junior class in the CIAC.  

Marianapolis Prep forward Eric Long, who pulled in his first few division I offers this summer, rounds out the top ten.
