Springfield Commonwealth Sends First of Many D1
Springfield Commonwealth Academy post-graduate Spencer Foley made a verbal commitment to Canisius on Saturday during his official visit.
Foley came to SCA from Chicago where he had a storied high school career and helped lead Uplift Community to a state championship as a senior. Nevertheless, he didn't land his first division I scholarship offer until arriving in Springfield.
The Chicago native now holds the distinction of being the first SCA product to commit to a division I school but he certainly won't be the last as the program's once young core has developed into deep and talented classes in both 2017 and 2018.
This year, SCA is expected to officially join the Class AA ranks of the NEPSAC and be among the league's top contenders right away. Foley should be a big part of that effort as a versatile 6-foot-6 swingman and knockdown shooter from behind the three-point line.
Below are some of his highlights prior to arriving at SCA.
