Commitment Catch-Up pt. IV
During these busy past couple of months, several local prospects announced their commitments to play college basketball for the next stage of their careers…
Phillips Andover/Rens United 6’6” forward Robbie Nyamwaya recently announced his commitment to Tufts. He played a big role in bringing success to Andover this year, dropping 21 with 10 rebounds in a clutch double-double performance to beat the future Founders League champions Choate in overtime, and going on a run to the NEPSAC Finals. It will be exciting to follow his career as he competes in the elite Division III NESCAC with the Jumbos of Tufts.
Recently, Cheshire Academy/Crown Basketball 6’3” point guard Leo Vlogiantis shared his commitment to Pace University. He was a major contributor in Cheshire’s success this year, earning recognition at the Zero Gravity Prep Classic. It will be fun to see Vlogianitis compete in the Northeast 10 Conference at the Division II level.
Vermont Academy 6’5” wing Bangaly Berete recently announced his commitment to Trinity College. He was a major contributor on one of the National Prep Championship’s top overall seeds all season long, dropping 17 in a win over St. Paul’s and 13 in a win over Phelps. It will be exciting to track his progress over the next few years as he competes in the NESCAC at the Division III level.
Avon Old Farms/Crown Basketball 6’4” shooting guard Antoni Vlogianitis recently announced his commitment to Marist College as a preferred walk-on. Vlogianitis came to New England from Chaminade (NY), where he won a CHSAA Division A Championship during the 2022-23 season. His success continued this year with Avon, as he competed in Class A of the NEPSAC, as well as the Founders League. It will be exciting to follow along as he takes his talents to the Division I level.
Recently, Will Yakoobian of Belmont Hill/Middlesex Magic announced his commitment to Union College. He was a standout at the Elite 75 College Showcase. Our scouts noted his feel for the game, showing elite shooting abilities and relentless defense. It will be fun to track his progress as he heads to the Liberty League to compete at the Division III level.
Vermont Academy 6’5” wing Jayden James recently shared his commitment to Pace University. He averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds per game on one of the National Prep Championship’s top overall seeds throughout the season. He also led the team in assists and had the second most steals. It will be exciting to watch him compete in the Northeast 10 Conference at the Division II level.
Deerfield Academy/BTI 6’4” wing Justin Odibo recently announced his commitment to Rochester for the next chapter of his career. He stood out at the Elite 75 College Showcase last summer, and he was the main contributor for Deerfield all season long this year, dropping 20 points with 8 rebounds in a big win over The Hun School at the Scholar Roundball Classic. It will be fun to track his progress in the elite UAA conference at the Division III level.
