Coleman Comes Back to East Carolina
Dexter Southfield and WrightWay Skills big man Charles Coleman committed to East Carolina on Monday night.
The Pirates were the runner-up when Coleman initially committed to Wake Forest back in March. Things got a lot more competitive the second time around though as Duke, Cincinnati, Georgia, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech all jumped in when Coleman re-opened his recruitment earlier this month.
Nevertheless, head coach Joe Dooley and assistant coach Raphael Chillious were still able to get their man.
"I was both overwhelmed and thankful for the outpouring of interest and scholarship offers from some of the most prestigious university and programs in the country after I re-opened my recruitment," Coleman said, "...Both my family and I are people who make serious life decisions based upon relationships and comfortability. I've built really strong relationships over the last four years but I feel most comfortable with the relationships I've built with Coach Dooley, Coach Chillious and the staff at East Carolina University."
Chillious first began recruiting Coleman years ago when he was an assistant coach at UConn. He continued to pursue him when arriving at East Carolina and now Coleman is headed to the American Athletic Conference after all.
Coleman is a true senior and near 7-footer who had made significant strides over the years and still has his best basketball in front of him. His progression in recent years has included a complete transformation of his physique as well as the development of his skill-set to the point where he can stretch the floor to the arc and score over either shoulder in the post.
Below are some of his senior highlights.
