Troy McLaughlin 2015

Choate Rosemary Hall post-graduate Troy McLaughlin committed to division II Merrimack on Wednesday.

The six-foot-two guard came to Choate from Old Tappan High School in New Jersey where he had a decorated four year career. This season he averaged over 15 points per game for a Choate squad that went 13-8, including a 37 point performance at the St. Andrew Holiday Classic.

"I could not be happier for Troy and his family. He comes from a rich hoops background, is a great teammate, and approaches the game the right way," said Choate head coach Drew Dawson. "His ability to score the basketball from multiple perimeter spots on the floor will certainly add to Coach Hammel's program. I spoke with their staff this morning, and they are  thrilled he decided to attend Merrimack. Troy has a bright future in the NE-10."

A product of the New York Falcons AAU program, McLaughlin is a scoring guard who is capable of putting points on the board in all three ranges. He can attack the rim, make shots from behind the arc as well as with his pull-up game. He's also become much more adept at moving without the ball this season.

Below are some of his highlights from the first half of the season:
