Cheshire’s Stevens is D1 Bound
Cheshire Academy post-graduate wing Jairus Stevens committed to, and signed with, IPFW late last week.
Stevens led Cheshire in scoring this year at 19.8 points per game while also averaging 6.3 rebounds and shooting over 50% from the field and 35% from behind the three-point arc.
An Indiana native, Stevens is the son of former Iowa State star and NBA player, Barry Stevens, and is now returning back closer to his home.
"I'm extremely excited to have Indiana native Jairus Stevens join our program," Fort Wayne head coach Jon Coffman said. "Jairus is a great fit for our program and comes from a family with a tremendous basketball pedigree. He has been well coached, has a great skill set, is extremely versatile and loves to play. We have won a lot of games with players that have bought into our unselfish culture and are passionately committed to the work necessary to become a great player."
Stevens is the third member of Cheshire Academy's 2017 class to accept a full athletic scholarship offer as he follow Deng Nhial (West Georgia) and Rich Kelly (Quinnipiac).
