Cheshire Academy Sniper D1 Bound

Cheshire Academy post-graduate swingman Austin Nehls made a verbal commitment to Central Connecticut on Monday night according to CA head coach Kevin Kehoe.

Nehls had a decorated high school career in Arizona and arrived in New England not only known for his talent on the hardwood, but also his prowess in the classroom.

He was recruited by a good deal of top academic schools this fall, but ultimately opted to play out the season in hopes of reaching his division I dream.

That dream became a reality on Monday night when CCSU head coach Howie Dickenman was in the Cheshire gym to make his final evaluation on Nehls.

The six-foot-three swingman is one of the best shooters in the NEPSAC this year and also a deceptively good athlete.

He becomes the fourth player to commit to the Blue Devils in the 2015 class joining Jahlil Nails (6'5, SF, Columbia HS - NY), Eric Bowles (5'10, PG, W.T. Woodson HS - VA), and Evan Phoenix (6'8, C/F, Calvert Hall - MD).
