Changing of Vitales at Marianapolis

Marianapolis Prep head coach Dave Vitale announced on Thursday that he would step down effective immediately, turning the reigns of his program over to his son and previous assistant, Andrew Vitale.

Vitale took over the Marianpolis program six years ago and quickly built it into a perennial powerhouse.  In just his second season on the job he led his team to a NEPSAC Class D championship.  The following year they made the jump to class B where they have since advanced to four straight finals.

The younger Vitale inherits a team that has the talent to continue to contend in the newly formed Class AA.  BU bound guard Zach Chionuma and New Mission graduate Ousmane Drame form a talented one-two punch that will serve as the core of the team while returning starters Mike Neal and Kristian Medina promise to be important contributors as well.
