Canty Down to Three
Kareem Canty has cut his list to just three schools and is expecting to make a commitment prior to the July live period.
The news was first reported by SNY's Adam Zagoria.
Florida State, Xavier, and Miami remain in contention for the lead guard's services but Canty spoke to the New England Recruiting Report on Sunday night and said it really may be more of a two horse race.
"Xavier and Miami are the two leaders," he said. "That's really who it's between."
A Brooklyn, New York native, Canty spent this past season at Bridgton Academy but is set to complete his career at another AAA school next season.
"Brewster [Academy] or South Kent," he said.
On the recruiting front, he enjoyed a recent visit to Xavier and has an unofficial visit to Miami scheduled for June 28th - 30th. A visit to Florida State is possible but still uncertain.
He hopes to make a quick decision following the visits.
"Before the [July] live period I think," he told Zagoria. "I don't want to be anybody's third or fourth option."
Canty is an attacking lead guard with a distinct New York City style to his game. He broke out on the national stage last spring and has continued to elevate his status in the year since with the limited number of high major point guards in the national class of 2012.
