Brumbaugh Picks Texas
Three days after announcing his de-commitment from Northwestern, Northfield Mount Hermon point guard Rowan Brumbaugh committed to Texas.
Brumbaugh's initial decision came down to Northwestern and Texas and the Longhorns never gave up, despite his initial decision.
“I just really want to play at the highest level and be around that type of basketball culture and grind," he said. "Their history of player development, it’s just everything I’m about. Also, just hearing more about it from the players and getting their perspective and their take, it’s just everything I’ve ever wanted. It’s just straight basketball, nothing else. It’s just something I’ve dreamed about. Everything is perfect for me.”
"Northwestern is getting a player that is constantly in pursuit of his best version of himself on the court," NMH head coach John Carroll had previously said. "He has incredible IQ, tempo and a great desire to make his teammates better. He wants to make the winning play."
Brumbaugh joins two other top-100 prospects, Dillon Mitchell and Arterio Morris, in Chris Beard's 2022 recruiting class.
He will also be reuniting with his former NMH teammate Cole Bott, who is in his freshman season with Texas.
Brumbaugh has had a terrific start to his senior season, not based just on the individual statistics he has been putting up but on his impact on the team's success as NMH is off to an undefeated start and currently sits as the top ranked program in the country.
