Brown is America East Bound
Team New England and incoming Vermont Academy guard Dion Brown announced a verbal commitment to UMBC on Friday.
He becomes one of the first players to commit to new Retrievers head coach Jim Ferry, who took over the program this spring after former head coach Ryan Odom accepted the heading coaching position at Utah State.
Brown previously starred at Mountain Monument High School in Massachusetts, where he put up huge scoring numbers, but still didn't make much of a name for himself prior to this spring when he became a focal point for Team New England.
Brown led TNE virtually every weekend, showing off his athleticism and competitiveness at virtually every stop, and landing multiple division I offers along the way.
He becomes the second member of their program to commit to a D1 program this season joining Ademide Badmus, who pledged to Gardner-Webb earlier this spring.
