Brown Commits to Pitt
Longtime BABC big man Terrell Brown made a verbal commitment to Pittsburgh on Sunday night following his official visit to the ACC school's campus.
The visit was Brown's second in as many weeks after traveling to Purdue last week.
The 6-foot-10 big man has been a consistent staple of both BABC and St. Andrew's over the last four years but will spend his post-graduate season at the Tilton School following his graduation last June.
While Brown's combination of size and touch made him an intriguing prospect at a very young age, production didn't always live up to his potential early on. The fact that he was often times a full year younger than most of his classmates in 2016 didn't help either.
But that all started to change this spring, when Brown announced that he would be doing a post-graduate year and thus was allowed to return to the Nike EYBL circuit. He averaged nearly 12 points, 6 rebounds and over 2 blocks per game for BABC and helped lead them back to the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam.
Now, Pittsburgh appears to be landing a player that has starting to put it all together. He's filling out his frame on a rapid basis, starting to tap into his potential as a shot-blocker, being a more consistent low post scoring threat and also able to pull opposing shot-blockers away from the basket with his shooting range.
His ability to space the floor as a five-man is expected to be very important within the offense of head coach Kevin Stallings, who came to Pittsburgh from Vanderbilt last spring where he previously developed the reputation as one of the nation's top offensive coaches.
Brown is the second player to commit to Stallings and the Panthers in the class of 2017 as he joins Team Takeover point guard Aaron Thompson.
