Brantley Heading Home

Notre Dame Prep post-graduate forward Jarrell Brantley is headed back to his home state of South Carolina after committing to the College of Charleston on Wednesday.

The six-foot-six power forward was one of the best prospects left on the board in New England, especially in the frontcourt, and should be able to compete for immediate minutes inside the rotation.

While Brantley rarely put up flashy offensive numbers, his recruiting stock continued to grow throughout the course of the season with Notre DamBre Prep because he did a variety of things that all translated to the next level. He's an excellent defender who has both the upper body strength to bang on the block with bigger guys as well as the quick feet to defend ball screens on the perimeter. He's a also a very good rebounder and can fill a role offensively with his ability to set big screens, finish around the basket and make mid-range jumpers.

Brantley, who ran with the D1 Ambassadors on the AAU circuit, was one of the leaders for a Crusader squad that returned to the National Prep Championships this season.

He joins Jerry Johnson (Fairfield), Callum Barker (Loyola) and Charlie Russo (Southern New Hampshire) to become the fourth NDP product to accept a full scholarship this season. That list is still bound to grow as sharp-shooter Winston Morgan is fresh off a visit to Texas State, point guard Pat Welch is still on the board as well as athletic southpaw wing Kris Clyburn.
