Beverly’s Coughlin Makes Pick

A pair of Beverly High School products have come off the board as senior guard Kyle Coughlin has committed to Clark University and teammate Sam Traicoff to Gordon College.

Both are also products of the Mass Elite AAU program. Coughlin has participated in the program since he was a 7th grader, in recent years playing for his father, Mitch Coughlin, along with Traicoff. Last spring, that group took the Massachusetts AAU Division II State Championship.

"Kyle is a floor general," said Mass Elite program director Eric Polli. "He is like a quarterback on the floor, calling the shots and making plays for his teammates. Kyle is a high I.Q. player and is always in the gy mworking on his game. He's spent so many countless hours refining his game. He really deserves this opportunity to play at the collegiate level."

Coughlin has had similar success at the high school level, serving as Beverly's captain in each of the last two seasons and establishing himself as one of the top guards in the Northeast Conference in the process. He averaged over 13 points per game last year and set a program record for most assists in a season.

Below are some of the highlights from his junior campaign.
