Bertrand Commits to Norwich

Saugus High School (MA) senior forward Joe Bertrand has made a verbal commitment to Norwich University, where he will continue his playing career next seasons.

Bertrand had a huge season for Saugus, averaging 27 points, 14 rebounds, and nearly 5 assists per game while recording a double-double in all 24 games on their season and scoring over 30 points on 13 different nights.

A six-foot-five forward with exceptional shooting ability, Bertrand averaged just under 4 made three-pointers a game this year, knocking down a total of 90 threes on the season to set a new school record.

Bertrand scored a total of 648 points this year, eclipsing the 1,000 point plateau for his career along the way, leading Saugus back to the division III state tournament and earning  All-Scholastic honors from both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald in the process.

He was a four year varsity player and two year captain.  He starred for Fidelity House on the AAU circuit and helped the Kings qualify for AAU Nationals in each of the last two seasons while also leading last years team to the NEAAU Super Regional Silver Bracket championship.
