Baskin Announces He’s Headed to Quinnipiac

At noon on Wednesday, Tevin Baskin held a press conference at Trinity Catholic High School to announce his intention to attend Quinnipiac University next year and play for head coach Tom Moore.

Baskin told the people in attendance that his reason for joining the Quinnipiac program was it was close to home and comfortable.

Baskin’s announcement puts an end to what has been a very long recruiting process.

“I’m just happy I got this process out of the way and now I can just relax,” he said.

Baskin’s commitment is a steal for Quinnipiac, to say the least, as earlier this year the athletic forward was said to be hearing from a wide range of high major programs including Providence, UMass, Auburn, Rutgers, and St. John’s.

Ultimately though, he chose the Bobcats over Manhattan, New Orleans, and Binghamton.

He’ll be expected to make an immediate impact next season at Quinnipiac, as Baskin is arguably the most notable recruit to commit to an NEC school this year.

Baskin averaged over 20 points and 11 rebounds per game this season as he led Trinity Catholic to a record of 24-2, including an undefeated regular season of 20-0.

He’s a tremendous athlete who plays high above the rim on both ends of the floor, goes hard to the bucket, and also thrives in transition.

He’s the latest in a long line of talented players to come out of Trinity Catholic including Rashamel Jones (UConn), Torey Thomas (Holy Cross), David McClure (Duke), and Craig Austrie (UConn).
