Barton Signs

Early reports on the first day of the signing period indicated that Will Barton had signed his National Letter of Intent and planned to fax it in on Thursday.

It was Friday by the time Memphis head coach Josh Pastner officially received the good news, but you can bet he wasn’t upset as he has officially landed arguably the best shooting guard in the country.

"One of the words I use when talking about Will is relentless," Pastner said. "Will plays hard all the time. He is a tremendous rebounder. Will fits in so well with this class because, like all the others, he gives all-out effort all the time. He competes and loves to win. Will is a high, high energy guy."

What Pastner didn’t come right out and say is that Barton is also one of the best, if not the very best, scorers in the entire country.  Simply put there isn’t much the six-foot-six guard can’t do.  He has a stellar mid-range game, deep range on his jumper, and the ability to finish around the rim with great athleticism and body control.  It is literally scary to think how good he could eventually become as he gets stronger and continues to polish his game.

Barton isn’t the only big time guard to ink with Memphis as he joins top 25 point guard Joe Jackson to form potentially the nation’s best backcourt of the future.
