BABC to honor Coach Bob Fisher
Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC) will be honoring Massachusetts high school coaching legend, and current Marshfield High Boys Basketball Coach, Bob Fisher with the “BABC Lifetime Achievement/Friend of Game Award.” Fisher has won over 620 games as a High School Head Coach. The 5th Annual Award will be presented to Fisher at a gathering on Sunday March 11, 2018, 4:30pm at ALBA Restaurant (1486 Hancock Street, Quincy).
Previous recipients of the award include Dee Rowe (Worcester Academy/UConn), George “Trigger” Burke (Quincy HS/UMass Amherst), Joe Amorosino (Quincy HS), and Bo Ruggiero (Medfield, Taunton, Foxboro, Cohasset HS).
Fisher, a 1960 graduate of Quincy High School, and 1961 graduate of Newman Prep, went on to play at Bentley University, where he was a member of the Class of 1965, and the first team captain for Coach Al Shields in the 1964-65 season. He remained at Bentley as an assistant coach for two seasons, before going to Rockland High School as an assistant in 1968, eventually being appointed the head coach at Rockland in 1969, where he served three tours (1969-1979, 1989-1994, 1996-2004). He won a total of two state titles at Rockland, the first ever MIAA D2 State Title in 1972, and the MIAA D3 State Title in 2004. Fisher was also promoted to the athletic director at Rockland High School in 1979. Since his last State Title in 2004, he has served as head oach at Quincy High School from 2004-2008, and in his current position at Marshfield High School since 2008.

They include the meal at ALBA and game admission for the BABC v. South Select Games to be held on March 15th at Quincy High School. Quincy High alum, and current Quincy College Head Coach, Doug Scott will coach the South Select teams.
