BABC, Middlesex Magic Take State Titles

The  Final Four of the Massachusetts AAU State Champsionships is taking place this weekend at UMass-Lowell with both the 16u and 17u action taking place on Saturday.

BABC took down the 16u State Chip by defeating the Mass Bearcats in the semifinals before cruising over Mass Premier in the Final.  Down in the paint, the Black and Gold were led by the interior duo of Bobby Ahearn and  Bonzie Colson, while the trio of Jalen Adams, Damion Smith, and Tyler Nelson stood out on the perimeter. 

In the 17u Division, the Middlesex Magic claimed the State Championship Crown with a wins over the Bay State Magic in the semis and the MABC in the Final.  In the semifinals, Mickey Adams led the scoring for the Magic with 18 points on five treys while Chris Braley went for 17 and Mark Murphy added 10.  The championship game was a tight contest which Mike Crotty's Squad ended up winning by a final of 54-52 over a tough MABC ball-club.  Braley led the Magic with 20 in this one while Pete Miller registered 12 points and 10 rebounds and Nick Pagliuca added 10.  The Magic also got notable performances on the defensive end from the trio of Alex Kim, Alex Faison, and John Lubin.   The Magic will get back at it next weekend at the Super 16.
