Atewe Picks Auburn

One of the best big men left on the board in New England’s class of 2013 came off the market earlier this weekend when Matt Atewe made a verbal commitment to Auburn.

Atewe had previously trimmed his list to four schools – Auburn, Charlotte, Nebraska, and Nevada.

The six-foot-nine big man was in and out of Notre Dame Prep’s line-up this weekend but has undeniable tools for the next level with his size and interior frame.

Atewe becomes the fifth player, and third frontcourt product, to commit to head coach Tony Barbee.  He joins face-up four Benas Griciunas and fellow center Ronald Delph up front while Tajh Shamsid-Deen and Dion Wade are on board in the backcourt.

He’s also the second Notre Dame Prep product to make a commitment, although it remains to be seen if Donelle Munda’s pledge to Farleigh Dickinson will stay intact following their coaching change.
