Arajuo Earns Full JC Scholarship
Master’s School senior and South Boston resident Celio Arajuo has received a full athletic scholarship to Sheridan College, a junior college in the Wyoming that is considered a NJCAA Division I powerhouse in Region 9.
Arajuo graduates from Masters this month with a 3.7 GPA and because he is fully qualified he will be eligible to leave Sheridan after only one season.
A consistent staple of BABC’s backcourt rotation over the years, Arajuo helped lead the club to Final Fours at both the AAU 10th Grade Division I Nationals and Super Showcase in 2013 as well as a spot in the EYBL Finals in 2014.
A true point guard who is dependable with the ball and very difficult to rattle, he is now the 8th and final member of BABC’s ’15 class to receive a full scholarship. He joins Tyree Robinson (Odessa) and Aamahne Santos (Cloud County) in the junior college ranks. Terance Mann (Florida State), Franklin Porter (St. Mary’s) and Jeremy Miller (Northeastern) are all headed to play division I basketball while Christian Wilkins (Clemson) and Brendan Hill (New Hampshire) are heading to the gridiron.
Three additional BABC alumni will enter the division I ranks after graduating from division I junior college programs this month: Jaylen Brantley (Odessa, Maryland); Mikey Rodriguez (Marshalltown, Southern Illinois) and Darien Fernandez (Laramie, Jacksonville).
Arajuo’s decision punctuates what has been a very successful week for BABC as their EYBL team went 4-0 at session III in Houston, their 10th grade team steam-rolled their way to the semifinals of the NEAAU championship and their 9th grade team took the title at the Providence Jam Fest.
