Altman Commits to Penn

On June 9th, it was announced that Middlesex Magic and Rivers 2025 wing Ryan Altman had committed to the Quakers of UPenn.

Entering his senior season this year, Altman has seen nothing but success, winning three consecutive NEPSAC Class B titles, as well as two straight ISL championships.

Altman is coming off a dominant junior year with numerous big games, helping lead Rivers on this season's title run.

The 6’6” wing can take over a contest in an instant with his game-changing length and instincts. He is a shooting threat from downtown, but his ability to make timely cuts to finish with force above the rim and create big turnovers on defense powered Rivers to many victories.

This grassroots season has been just another example of Altman’s winning ways, as he has played an integral role in the Magic’s dominant run thus far in the UAA, averaging 6.3ppg on 65% from the field amongst a loaded team.

The Brookline native had this to say about his decision in moving on to Penn: “I knew Penn was the spot for me from the second I stepped on campus in October,” citing his immediate love for the school.

He went on to say,  “The amazing education, great people, basketball history and so much more just made it an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

One thing you may have noticed about Altman’s commitment is that he will be joining his Rivers and Magic teammate Jay Jones in the incoming class of 2029.

“I’ve been playing with Jay since 2nd grade so to be able to continue that and take our talents to every level together is a dream come true!”

While Jones moves on for a postgraduate year at Cushing, the two Penn-commits will have plenty of time to figure out the arrangement of their dorm.
