Allan Chaney is a Gator

Allan Chaney’s story has been well documented.  Perhaps no player in the country saw his stock elevate more during the month of July than the skilled 6’9” forward.  It began at Rbk U where shined despite being a late entry into the camp.  From there he turned in consecutive dominant performances at Reebok Summer Classic East and Triple S Harley Davidson Classic.  By the time the shoe tournaments in Vegas had come around he was already being followed by some of the most highly regarded programs in the country.

“I figured it could happen, but not like that,” Chaney said of his explosion onto the national recruiting scene.

When it was all said and done Chaney had picked up offers from the likes of Florida, Boston College, Indiana, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Texas A & M, Virginia, and Virginia Tech to name a few.  So what set the Gators apart from the rest of the competition?

“The coaching staff was straight up with me from the beginning,” Chaney told the New England Recruiting Report.  “They’re going to tell you exactly what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.”

The best example of that was following a rare game this summer when Chaney didn’t perform up to par.  While he said he still heard from a lot of coaches telling him he played well, the Florida staff took a different approach.

“They told me I didn’t play well,” he said “and I respected that”.

So what’s next for the newest member of the Florida recruiting class?

“Coach Donovan told me to get a state championship,” Chaney said “So I gotta do that.”
