A Look Back on 2017
2017 is officially in the books and it was another exciting year for New England basketball.
We saw local prospects represented on stages ranging from the Jordan Brand All-American Game to the Adidas Euro Camp in Italy and numerous other spots in between. We saw nearly 100 players accept full athletic scholarship offers to places like Kentucky, Villanova, Syracuse, and numerous others and, just as important, others use basketball as a vehicle to earn educations from the likes of Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Northwestern, John Hopkins, and the entire NESCAC.
We saw one prep school program make history by going undefeated in route to both the NEPSAC and National Championships. On the grassroots front, we saw five local programs represented among the three nationally sponsored shoe circuits and several others prove to be among the very best in the northeast region.
We saw several coaches and former players elected to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame and one even nominated for the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.
We also saw the basketball community come together to support charitable efforts including Coaches vs. Cancer and the Houston flood relief effort.
So what’s the come in the year to come? We already know that competition will be intense, champions will be crowned, and prospects will emerge. If recent years are any indication there’s a decent chance that history will be made as well.
From all of us at the New England Recruiting Report…Happy New Year!
