8 Teams Set for National Prep Championship

Eight seeds have been announced for the sixth annual National Prep Championship, to be held at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut on Tuesday, March 6th and Wednesday, March 7th.

The field is headlined by the nation’s two undefeated post-graduate programs, Brewster Academy and Hargrave Military Academy.  Brewster completed a perfect 29-0 season last week with wins over Tilton and Bridgton, while Hargrave earned weekend wins over Massanutten and Fishburne to capture the First Piedmont Invitational title and finish the regular season at a perfect 34-0.

Brewster (2010) and Hargrave (2008) join three other former national champions in the field in Notre Dame Prep (2007), Tilton School (2009), and the defending national champions, St. Thomas More.

Other schools earning invitations to this year’s championships include: New Hampton School, who will be making their second straight appearance in the field, 2010 national finalist Northfield Mount Hermon; and Massanutten Military Academy, who makes their debut in the championships under first year head coach Chad Myers.

Quarterfinal action will take place on Tuesday, March 6th with games scheduled for 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, and 8pm.  Play-in games remain a possibility earlier in the day depending on results from this week’s NEPSAC tournament.

Semifinal games are scheduled for 11am and 1pm on Wednesday, March 7th while the 2012 National Prep School Championship will be decided later that night with a 7:30pm final.
