NCAA Live Period Tips Friday
The NCAA recruiting period (informally known as the "live" period) tips Friday night and that means top players and teams from across New England are on the road traveling to places like Atlanta, Kansas City, Dallas, and Pittsburgh among others.
This weekend is particularlly important given the new NCAA recruiting calendar which limits non-scholastic events (AAU style tournaments) that division I coaches can attend to just this weekend and one four-day period in July.
The 2019 Nike EYBL season tips in Atlanta with BABC and Expressions Elite again being New England's two sponsored programs.
The Under Armour Association got underway two weeks ago in Chicago with their u17 teams in action. Their u15 and u16 teams will join in this weekend for session II in Kansas City. NE6 is the only New England program in the UAA.
Boston was one of four cities to hold a regional qualifier for the Adidas Gauntlet two weeks ago. This week, the entire Gauntlet will convene in Dallas, Texas where the Mass Rivals will represent New England.
The Hoop Group will host their annual Pittsburgh Jam Fest this weekend, which is bound to be one of the best non-sneaker events of the period. Middlesex Magic, Metro Boston, WrightWay Skills, and D.C. Blue Devils are all taking part in the HGSL while PTT Elite Blue, Boston Bobcats, Rise Above Basketball, Middlesex Magic Reidy, Mass Elite, Stamford Peace, CT Elite, BABC Boston Bobcats, RI Elite, and Middlesex Magic White were also selected for the 17u elite division.
